too lazy to read the posts, but I know for a fact their are rich players that are still going to complain because they have nothing else to do. This is to you rich annoying players. Not everyone in game is like you. They wont have a million dyes and million material like you. Either sell your stuff to the merchant or shut up. I am sick and tired of players complaining there isnt enough space for stuff. Anet did a great job to offer this to us and it is more than enough for the average player in-game. It took a long time, but I don't mind. I think everyone should be thankful to the developing team and stop complaining.
Great Job Anet- You making me love you guys again. Especially since you guys are keeping in touch with us on the sites more often.

What's all this whining about? This is GOOD news. You just got more storage without having to deal with the ultrarich hoarding more stuff. As for people saying that they don't keep materials anyway, maybe that's because it's such a pain to do so with the current system? Can't you guys just be happy with getting something for nothing?
Anet, thank you, my guild chat just collectively made "o" faces. This is awesome, one more reason to love this game.

I look at this as Anet's trial storage. If we put crafting materials into it and there is a problem, we only loose 250 of crafting materials (although Ecto and shard collectors would be pretty pissed). I think this is just to iron out any kinks in the system before they add more specific types of storage (holliday items and such) cause if your priceless holliday items/armor/rare weapons get lost then you will hear a lot more angry people than just some crafting materials.

Yeah but what a choice eh?
This is << simply another 20 slot storage tab for probably most people.
So one stack where you likely have multiples and empty space for the rest.
And this is <<<< superior rune for a bag (every character 20 more slots).
So no holiday storage, a simple keyring on players, dye juggling, bigger bags, belts, putting bags in storage with stuff in them, or a general tab storage.
It's an odd move just factions as well, and is 34 really the #?
Certainly can't cover crafting materials and collector materials at that #.
I have a page of chp2 collector materials (20) which I'll probably just merch.
Hey I'll take ANY storage bone, I've been dying for it [though before yet another holiday event with items would have been nice.]
Scroll stacking meant I stopped immediately using or merch'ing all scrolls.
But I'm also not sure if this gets me over the hump to consider chp3.
When nothing happened with it after buying chp2, chp3 wasn't in my future (and yeah, after eating only 2 slots). I'll give it a go but I just don't see it cutting it, especially when one character might take 400 materials. Just a wierd move. Maybe that means every chapter will throw another odd 'storage' bone at us, next one collectibles? Holiday? Buy chp3? Shrug.
Some call it whining, blah blah. I dunno I just hate the inventory mini-game-that-isn't, and if you havent hit the wall, well good for you, you don't play like I do. 5 pve chars and I like to have options on all of them, 6th slot had to go back to a mule even tho I deleted a char to get my pvp slot back, and I still have some overflow on my wife's account. I'm not a pack rat, I don't have the patience to hoard and sell (another hellaciously ignored item in GW) but yeah I like toying with different builds, configurations, which means a fair bit of supporting items and target new armors and equipment so crafting and collector items... I dunno. I kinda hoped some storage bone was coming. I'm just not sure how to react to it. Thanks for [finally] thinking of us, but umm why such the narrow focus and restriction? /shrug

I'm going to constructively provide feedback to anet..
I'm very happy the implemented this and it was in a way I was actually thinking about how they were going to do it.. that being said
In more then one interview about how "system" enchantments apply to all chapters where content is limited to new campaigns (quest, missions).
This screams “system” enhancement like possible future trade / auction house there debating and mention would be available to all campaigns…
I can see why they made this decision or if it's strongly business related but after all the talk they have said about stuff like this applying to all chapters... and turn around and make this factions only,.. is a bit of a let down.
Again I am happy that were getting more storage, it in a way that makes sense to me.. but I was under the impression based on interveiws and such that stuff like this was campaign wise.. not factions. Again I do know anet has to make money and this may of been a hard decision but I still feel it's a bit of let down. It won't discouagre me to buy future chapters, Im hooked on this game.

i sold my crafting materials months ago because there was no room for them...
this update seems like a big deal but honestly all it is is a marketing ploy...seriously, factions only? and right after a big factions event?

It's not bad. I suppose this was the best ANET felt they could do in order to compromise having to spend more money transfering more bandwidth, yet giving us a large enough option for freeing up storage space. This won't help me a huge amount, but it will definitely help since my assassin is currently holding a bunch of rare crafting materials so at least those slots will be freed. But I'd say at least be thankful they did something considering we're about to lose most slots to dragon masks and hoards of jade orbs and spiked rice wine and rice cakes and exploding beach balls and other summer stuffs...

Absolutely beautiful. It caters to the "regular" player while providing limited benefits for the uber-farming plague that has decended upon the lands of Cantha. This will help me immensely. I am pleased.
Nothing else matters.

Hmm my storage has few/no materials, but quite a few holiday/event/gift items, different weapons/armours and some spare upgrades or some such.
Surely Anet realises people like to collect the event items, not to mention things like minipet(s) etc. so why not a simple event box for items obtained from events, at least?

AFAIK, Bricks of Mud are unobtainable and Clay Bricks are uncraftable since they require Bricks of Mud to craft. So I would guess that the clay and mud bricks are the 2 materials that are left out.

If ArenaNet had been promising us for 3 weeks to a month for improved storage, and this is what they came up with, it'd be ok.
However, we've been promised for much better storage for a lot longer, and THAT makes this attempt look weak. Even with this update I still need a mule character to hold the surplus materials so this doesn't even serve my a purpose. Not to mention the multiple armor sets and such my characters have.
ArenaNet could have done a lot better. In my opinion, this "improvement" will be the equivalent of making "WTS" messages automatically transfer to Trade Chat. We all saw how wonderful that worked out.
I'd also like to echo Eternal Tempest for a minute. For months now Gaile Gray has promised us that improvements to trade/storage would be system improvements which are game-wide and would not be restricted to the purchase of a specific chapter. Yet here we are with this improvement and people need to purchase or have purchased Factions in order to get it. This shows a deeper level of trouble, I believe. Either ArenaNet intentionally misinforms us (I'm starting to believe it), or Gaile has worse communication with the developers than we do. At this point, that's assuming she even has any. How do we get consistently told one thing for so long only to have it come out not what was told?
All that aside, I'm glad they decided to make an effort, but it's too little WAY too late, in my book. This improvement would have helped us about 8 months ago perhaps, but now they're just trying to clog the dam with a paper towel.

That's an interesting perspective and not one I (or many, I'd gather) really looked at. I'm not saying I agree or that you're right (because you're just guessing as well ) but it does help see this in a better light. Not that I have any hope of what you said actually happening, because I'm comfortable with ANet disappointing me.

This has me thinking about how I do things.
I'm a certified packrat. I admit it.
I have 3 stacks of most common materials and 1 of each rare.
Why?
I only have plans on buying one more set of armor, and that's up in the air. So what am I holding these things for? Mostly for investment purposes. Whenever the mood strikes, I head to Drok's and sell crafting materials. It's usually an easy way to make a few plat.
But other than that, I'll never use the stuff. Maybe it's time to simplify my life and just keep one stack of everything for future potential armors.
Just think of all the weapons I could hold!

As soon as i saw that you had to own Factions to get the "expanded" storage I thought Gaile or someone official said these types of updates are System wide not chapter wide. I'm dissappointed in that. On the material side of things..i really only keep crafting materials in my storage if I'm going to be buying armor, so this doesn't really have much use, to me. I sold all my christmas items because i had no room. I'd like a event storage like others have mentioned.

This update will easily create another 20+ slots for my toons. Thank you ANET.
PS: Now please fix assassin skills, especially temple strike (25 sec recharge is way too long - just make it crit-strike instead of dagger attribute based) *hint*hint*

this is their excuse for a storage update? i mean yeah its useful, would be more useful if it could hold multiple stacks of materials or something along those lines. as for hoarding weapons and such its useless.
i imagine this is the storage improvement gaile has been talking about for so long. i'm not gonna hold my breath for an auction house.
